If you’re a corporate lawyer and you want to make more money, it’s probably because you’re spending your days working for a company that can make you richer.
According to a new report by PayScale, the top 50 US attorneys earned an average of $1.3 million in salaries in 2016, up 2.6% from $1 million in 2015.
The number of attorneys at the top of the corporate lawyer salary ladder has increased more than 5.5% over the past year.
While the salary increase is significant, it comes at a time when there is less competition for lucrative corporate law jobs, which could make a huge difference in your paycheck.
Here are the top corporate lawyer salaries in the US, according to PayScale.
PayScale analyzed the salaries of all US corporate lawyers as well as their individual clients.
PayScale also looked at the salaries for the top ten US attorneys per jurisdiction, and for the US Justice Department, and it shows that in general, the salaries paid to US corporate attorneys are higher than those paid to the top 10 US attorneys in each jurisdiction.
In 2016, the average corporate lawyer made $1,972,936, which was up 8.4% from 2015.
In contrast, the median pay for US attorneys was $1m in 2016.
But there is more to the story.
PayScope found that the median salary for US corporate law firms increased from $2,300 in 2015 to $2.9m in 2020, which increased to $3.2m in 2021.
The report also shows that while the median compensation for US lawyers has decreased over the years, the increase in compensation for corporate lawyers is a big deal, particularly since they are paid significantly more.
This report is based on PayScale data from its 2017 Annual Compensation Report, which is available here.
