DALLAS — A divorce lawyer in Dallas says she’s seen a rise in people seeking divorce and is urging people to seek legal help if they’re facing legal problems related to their marriage.
“If you have a problem with your marriage, you can file a divorce and then if it’s not a good marriage, it’s a free marriage,” said Angela Tipton, a divorce lawyer.
“People get caught up in all the issues.
They think, ‘Oh, this marriage’s a good one.
If it’s good, why not file for divorce?’
That’s not the way to work.”
Tipton said that when people try to file for a divorce, the courts are often the ones to help.
“The courts are not necessarily going to make the decision,” she said.
“If you’re not getting what you’re asking for and the court is not having it, then you’re in a good situation to file.”
She said some people may not want to go through with the divorce, and that sometimes people get caught in the middle.
“Sometimes, you may have a very unhappy marriage, and you want to have a divorce,” she explained.
“But you don’t want to get stuck in a bad marriage.”
The divorce attorney said some women don’t realize that filing for divorce isn’t something they should be doing.
“I’ve had women who are not getting the benefits they should have,” she added.
“Some women just want to be happy.
But the way you work, you need to work.
If you don`t, then people will be able to say, ‘Hey, you should be happy.'”
Some people want to avoid the legal battle, but they don’t know how to deal with the situation and can’t get the support they need.
